First Chess Tournament Win

By Karthik | Featured by Coach John Hendrick

In a recent Texas Chess Association (TCA) tournament, one of our Foundation Chess students, Karthik, achieved an incredible milestone - winning all 5 of his games and earning 1st place in his section!

“This tournament will stay very memorable for me for winning all my games. I’m hoping for many more tournaments like this in the future. This victory gave me a boost and lots of confidence to consistently keep playing chess competitively. It gave me that much-needed drive to continue to excel in chess.” — Karthik

Karthik is a member of our Advanced Chess Class, at SpiderSmart in Fulshear, Texas where he continues to grow in both tactical sharpness and strategic understanding. His success is a testament to the effort he puts into practicing regularly and applying what he learns in class.

“The coaching I’m receiving from Coach John really helped me a lot. It gave me knowledge about different openings, tactics, and positions that I used during the tournament.”

As Karthik’s coach, I couldn’t be prouder. Watching his growth, from learning key ideas in our group lessons to confidently applying them under tournament pressure, is what Foundation Chess is all about. Great job, Karthik!
