Foundations of Chess: Essential Skills Instructor: Candidate Master John Hendrick Dates: January 18 - May 23, 2024 (18 classes) Time: Thursdays, 5:30pm - 6:30pm No class during Spring Break week. Unlock the secrets of chess with our "Foundations of Chess: Essential Skills" course. Taught by the experienced Candidate Master John Hendrick, who brings over 17 years of dedicated chess teaching to the table. As the owner and lead coach of Foundation Chess since 2016, John has honed his expertise in nurturing young chess talents. Course Highlights: - Master the fundamentals of chess - Develop core chess strategies and tactics - Refine critical thinking and decision-making skills - Explore advanced concepts for aspiring chess champions Recommended Age/Grade Range: 2nd grade to 7th grade Younger Players Welcome: For kindergartners and 1st graders eager to embark on their chess journey, we extend a warm invitation to join our course. Our experienced instructors understand that younger players may need a bit more support, and we offer private tutoring to help them catch up and fully engage with the course material. Course Structure: Our 16-week course is designed to build a solid foundation in chess. Each class is carefully structured to cover essential skills, from the basics of piece movement to advanced strategies. Students will learn at their own pace in a supportive and encouraging environment.
