Course Title: Chess Beginnings: Kinder & 1st Grade Adventures Duration: 16 Weeks (January 17 to May 8) Class Schedule: Every Wednesday, 4:00 pm to 5:00 pm Young Explorers: Kindergarten and 1st Grade Students Instructor: Coach Elena Description: Join us for "Chess Beginnings: Kinder & 1st Grade Adventures," a special 16-week journey into the world of chess, guided by the experienced and nurturing Coach Elena. Every Wednesday, from January 17 to May 8, our young explorers in kindergarten and first grade will discover the joys and challenges of chess. Our curriculum is tailored to young minds and includes: - Chessboard Basics: Understanding the chessboard and setting up the pieces. - Piece Movements: Learning how each chess piece moves with fun and engaging stories. - Strategic Foundations: Simple strategies to begin thinking like a chess player. - Checkmates and Defenses: Basic techniques for checkmating and protecting your king. - Puzzle Adventures: Solving puzzles to develop critical thinking skills. - Game Play: Applying what's learned in interactive and supervised games. The highlight of our course is the interactive journals, personally designed by Coach Elena. These journals cater to young learners who are still developing their writing skills. Filled with activities like pasting, drawing, and simple writing exercises, the journals make learning both accessible and enjoyable. Coach Elena assists with the more complex parts, ensuring every child feels included and successful. Provided to each student, these journals become a treasure trove of their chess adventures, documenting their progress and creative expressions. Coach Elena's teaching style is warm, patient, and engaging, creating an environment where every young explorer feels supported and encouraged. By the end of the course, our students will not only learn the essentials of chess but also enhance their problem-solving abilities and creative thinking.
